Check this Out

Just wanted to share my favorite poem with you. It was written by a High School girl who just happens to be my daughter.

Water - Chani Ore

At times it flows, without resistance
Gentle, Peaceful, Mild
Yielding to the will of natural force

It takes not an effort
Nor a nudge, nor a push
Calm, Deep, and Tranquil
It draws you in

Caressing the earth, and bringing life to all it touches

Other times it pounds down in a torrent
Falling in a wild rush
Foaming white in the haste of its own passion

It shapes the land around it
Sweeping you along
With its powerful hand
and stealing your breath

Passionate, Strong, Powerful, Awe-Inspiring, It can break or build the world

(Dearest Reader, If you learn nothing else in life
Learn to love like water)

No Words

Lou Dobbs said that the senate actually voted at all on 53 laws, but 855 were passed. Less than a tenth of one percent of all laws are being passed without being read by our senators. Their title doesn't deserve to be capitalized. Less than 5 of the 53 were even discussed.

That would be like teachers arbitrarily assigning students grades without even looking at any of their work.

There are no words.

Life and the Sheep

It's called wanting to feed your children! This world has everyone running in circles just trying to make ends meet so we could feed our children. You would think that the human race could figure it out one of these millinium. Remember the movie "Beautiful Mind" where the mentally ill guy found a mathematical equation to determine a win/win situation for the group? By working for what's best for the group, everyone in the group walked away with more than what the winner in a competitive situation would walk away with. Oh, yea, that's called socialism! My bad, I forgot we are supposed to be capitalist. Blah, Blah, Blah! So here we all are, millions of people, all wanting to just be able to take a deep breath, and feel secure that the world is turning in a logical manner and our children have something to eat. Instead of asking God for something or thanking Him for something, we should all get on our knees and apologize to Him for the way humanity has chosen to exist.

The Sheep Story (this one's for you izzy):

I'm sitting in shorts and a tank top painting one day when these 4-H kids come to the door in hysterics because their sheep got out and were at the far end of my field. I grabbed the first shoes available (big, heavy, work boots) and a hat. I have the teacher in flipflops, one very neurotic kid on a four-wheeler, two kids who are obviously terrified of animals, and me hearding these sheep. Now at this point I had the bright idea of getting them in the corral and waiting for the horse trailer, but nooooooooooooooooooooo!!! The teacher says we could just heard them back across town. I ended up in the local housing neighborhood with the sheep trapped in this guy's yard. He looks like he's about to shit a brick at any moment. I organize the kids to form a barrier across the driveway to keep the sheep in the yard, and the teacher goes to get the horse trailer. I have half the neighborhood standing around watching while I have to keep all the town dogs under control. I ended up with all the dogs sitting in a line outside the fence. Somehow they knew I was going to eat them if they didn't.

The teacher shows up with the horse trailer and like the good reclusive neighbor that I am, I commence to visit with someone who I haven't seen in three years. Yes, you can see her house from mine. While I'm visiting, the kids abandoned their post and the sheep jump over their bikes. Away we go again! At this point, the girl on the four wheeler tries to run them down. Turns out that if sheep overheat they die. No, they didn't die, but they were close. The teacher finally abandons the truck and trailer and graps the lead sheep. So there we were, her leading the sheep and me on dog patrol because the kids were worse than useless, walking across town with me dressed in shorts and work boots.

That was the first time in three years I've really left my yard for anything except to take my foster kids to the clinic!

Only in Pryor!

Change

I agree with you Kalabecca, people have the hardest time changing around here. Been thinking over the last 8 years about it, and change can only come through one person at a time. While I don't know if anything I've said or tried to teach in the schools here has made a difference, I have to believe that it at least made a difference in me. So I keep putting it out there, hoping that something sticks or at least makes someone think.

Trust seems to be the big issue with everyone, not just the community I live in. If I ever give up on trusting you might as well pick out something black to wear on your next visit to me. I don't think we trust ourselves and thats why we have all these crazy coping mechanisms in our lives. If we have to be right its because we feel inadequate. If we have to be better than everyone else, its because we don't feel good enough. I we have to get one over on the world, its because we feel vulnerable all the time. You get the point. In the end its all about finding a place in ourselves that makes us happy, preferably with someone who can be happy with us.

JB and I marvel at our relationship, but its so good because we let each other be ourselves. Now if I can accomplish that with other people, then I have a start to my "Eutopia Community". I met a woman tonight who immediately sized me up in a very defensive and aggressive way. The only thing I can think was that she was existing in a state of fear that causes her to be on the attack. I pictured us out there in the middle of the field squawking around like a couple of roosters and had to laugh. I ended up not responding to it at all and she deflated and walked away. Maybe next time we meet, she'll try a different approach.

Thanks for all the responses, makes me feel like I'm talking to more than just myself!

Real People

After going through this thing about blogging and how to get people to read it, I was totally confused. So, now I have no clue if anyone is reading it because none of the dumb buttons worked. That was God saying no.

What's important to me? God, dealing with issues, and education.

I had someone tell me that they did not trust God. While I can understand how that came about, it is beyond my comprehsion to not trust Him/Her/Whatever. God isn't who did life to us, He's who gets us through it. Bad things happen to everyone that shape the adults we become. God was gracious enough to give us life; the least we could do is live a good one.

Attack your issues head-on before they attack you. Don't respond to them, address them. Look, we are all scared. I'm terrified, and don't know what its all about and still choose to try. Be honest with yourself, know what you want, make a plan and do it. We're all going to fail 90% of the time, but we have to keep getting back on track and keep trying.

There's a school in our town that I desperately want to turn into a good one. My eutopia picture is everyone working towards the common goal of self-sufficiency. A community that barters and everyone learns together doing projects. I have about 100 ideas for them. I can see it all so clearly and am having to be patient and deal with myself to be ready. God will send the people to me when its time. Real People will show up then, and we're going to rock the cosmos.

So that's what's important to me. Ask questions!

The Saga Continues

Ok, so the baby psychic thing isn't as fun as I thought! 8 pigs lived, but mama didn't drop her milk. Being the never did this before pig farmer, we didn't know you give them a shot. So now I'm Fern from Charlotte's Web. Yep, bottle feeding 8 pigs. And I got rid of kids for the summer! So all you peoples who said blogging was such a great outlet for me aren't responding here (hint, hint instigators!) If you don't get on the ball, I'm going to buy three more calling cards and start bugging you on the phone again!

Baby Psychic

I'm a freakin baby psychic now! I predicted a pregnancy of a girl I know and I told those men today that sow was going to blow any day now! But nooooooooo, they said a week or so. She dropped 10 piglets at midnight. One suffocated and she stepped on two when we shined the light on her, but there's 7 healthy babies in the pen tonight. I say that emotional clearing causes your mind and spirit to be clearer. It's cool! In February emotional stuff about my family has been coming up and of course, the processing begins again. But man, has my brain been working good lately and my psychic self is kicking into gear. Get your tickets babies, the train is leaving the station!

So when everyone gets to the point when its time for you to come to B-ville, its first come first serve on the bedrooms! And you gotta take your turns with the animals, especially shoveling out the calf's pen. Jeez Louise, that stuff stinks!

Challenge everyone: Every night imagine yourself sharing a dream with me. I'm convinced that you can share a dream with someone if you both concentrate on trying to while you fall asleep. We can go and do anything together. We can crawl inside the tunnels of the mountain and talk to the Little People. I have a million questions for them. Or we can do all the things we say we want to do together, but don't have the time or money. What the heck, if it doesn't work at least we focused our minds on our dream so our subconscience can go to work. That's my favorite way to face issues. When you lay down tell yourself over and over that tonight your going to control your dream. It takes a long time, but if you do it every night it'll eventually happen. You can fight the devil himself that way. Especially when you let God control everything in your life. Hardest part about that is letting go of your own will to let His take over. It takes constant effort. I read this book that said have a destination in mind, a flight plan, and a compass to get back on track because your going to get off track 90% of the time. That makes it way easier! We wrote a mission statement for our marriage and family and that's our destination. The flight plan is to clear out emotionally so our minds can focus on catching on to what God wants. The compass is the stop, look, and listen to life. If things are getting too hard or stressful or you seeing truths that aren't easy, that's God talking to us.

Anyway, our mission statement:

We will live our lives by the will of God in a fair, considerate, honest, and reliable way.

It's on our whiteboard along with; Your thoughts dictate your actions which turn into habits. Your habits build your character, and your character determines your destiny.

Personal Goals: 1) Be honest with yourself
2) Know what you want
3) Make a Plan and Do It

Family Goals: 1) Listen
2) Understand
3) Compramise

Goodnight,
Cat
